The Craziest Thing
I won't bore you with more details about my preparation to leave. Suffice it My day started by being woken up by the air duct cleaning guys. That isn't Fast forward to a completely opposite, yet still very weird, experience I Ok - this is only $.26 or something but still, since when does the USPS give posted by Stepping On Legos at 10/16/2006§

I would have been really mad about my yard being torn up. What did the idiots say about it? And yes, very peculiar for USPS to give away postage.
OMFG they tore your yard up??? I would be throwing hissy fits all over the place! They should pay for the yard and they should pay punitive damages :)
And yes, I would be verrrry suspicious of the overly helpful and generous postman ( it was a man right? because I don't want to offend by not saying "postperson" LOL). Well it sounds like things are coming together for you (besides your sod that is). Love Ya
Those are both sort of surreal experiences. The driving on the lawn and ripping it up would have *really* ticked me off. And I'm sure you have, but make sure to call their company ASAP and take pics of the damage so they can't deny it was their fault.
I'm nervous about absentee ballots too... after this election I'm going back to voting at the polls... but our post office people are very friendly/helpful too so I probably wouldn't have been so nervous about it. (We live in a small town and they know us by name, which is an odd thing for me)
Nicki, I am thinking about you today and hoping all is going well with your mom. Take care and be encouraged that you are day closer to heading out to get your girl!
Nicki, sounds like you've had an interesting few days. USPS giving away postage??? I think you were right to be a little put off. Who knows though, maybe he was just a nice guy.
You are going to be on a plane to get Addy very soon. Hope your Mom is doing well. Stay in touch, please.
I would be livid about the lawn ordeal. That's just unreal! And I would definitely be leery of the USPS doing anything above and beyond. Hmmmm....gov't conspiracy with absentee ballots? We may never know...
